B-Nasty: Happy Birthday

I want to send a happy birthday greeting to my friend Ben. He is my dear brother in the Lord. you see, God put Ben in my life exactly when I needed a close friend. We see good relationships in the Bible, and I feel that our friendship is strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
Ben is in LA. He is already an accomplished actor, and desiring to please God with his life.
Ben played basketball with me in college. He was one of the top 5 players in the nation his freshman year. It was the most fun I have ever had playing basketball. Along with our center, we made up the 'bigs' on the basketball team. We were the triangle.
Ben and I also starred in the theatre production of Curious Savage. We did not win any awards, but Bev W. voted it the top play of the year.
Ben and I also got a job cleaning a few places. We did a poor job and I think we either quit or got fired.
so today is Ben's birthday. #28.
jenn and i are looking forward to Ben coming out next week. he loves NYC!
so happy birthday ben from your biggest fan:http://www.natalieportman.com/gallery/mags_2002_warwick-saint/premiere_Natalie_Portman_jun2k2

A Powerful Movie

Everyone is always looking for a good movie. Everyone wants to see orginality, creativity, and entertainment. I tell you this, I know of a powerful movie that will make you laugh, cry, and move your spirit.
http://www.endofthespear.com/
The movie is called End of the Spear. It is a true story. It is a story of redemption. It is a story of love. Please go see this movie. You will not be the same. To see the story of men who were not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it is very moving. and humbling.
thanks

Birdwatching

My favorite basketball player of all time is Larry Bird. I began rooting for him, when I was a wee lad in southern Illinois. Mr. Bird went to school in Indiana, about an hour's drive from where we lived. In fact, my piano teacher went to school with him. (thus every week at piano lessons I had to ask her about Larry, even though she had never met him)
I would go shoot baskets in my backyard every day every night in the year. I wanted to be like Larry. I read his books, and did his shooting drills. I would pretend I was Larry Bird. I would shoot fadeaways in my backyard. To this day, I believe that I have the 2nd best fadeaway in the world!
so when i was at Grace Bible College, I had to take a science class for my requirements for graduation. what did i choose? that's right, ornithology (bird watching). I already had several books on Bird, I knew I would ace the class. ok, so it was the wrong bird. i already paid the tuition, so i stuck it out.
I have never met Larry, but I hope to some day. And when I meet Larry, I will tell him thank you. Thank you for giving me hope and dreams, to be the best I could be. And I would also tell him that Jesus loves him, and that He died on the cross so that we can live forever with Him. And that I would love to have Larry in eternity with me!

Chuggy

this one goes out to chuggy, the sister i never knew.
Actually I know her really well. Her favorite things in the world are
in no particular order
1) Corey her husband
2) her kittens
3) her new nephew or niece
4) looking for plane tickets every day to fly out to NJ
5) NJ 'tough guy' talk (such as hearing "look at these bananas, they are late" in our fav. eating establishment)
6) Packers
7) playiing volleyball
8) bike racing
9) watching the tv show sets on DVD that she gets from her precious
10) eating at arby's past midnight

some of the best moments of our brother/sister life together
1) the Christmas my brother and I bought her a GI Jane action figure so she could play with us
2) the Christmas I gave her a portable cd player I had won at my company party. ( i told her i got it for her because of several functions, when in fact, i got it for her b/c it ws free)
3) playing basketball on bicycles
4) taking her out to eat (Denny's) because I owed her money.
5) buying her Star Wars female action figures
6) inquiring about the 'moles' in her yard at a public pool in florida
7) letting her drive my car when she was 14
8) sadie giving her a unexpected kiss on the lips
9) embarrassing moments playing special music in church
10) the dramatic skit at church when we couldn't stop laughing
11) my beard for her wedding ( i accidentally gave myself an amish strap because i was shaving while watching the Simpsons)
12) her beard for mine ( just kidding)
13) when she dressed up as santa claus to pick me and jenn up from the GRR airport. When I said I didn't think it was her, Jenn responded with "I wouldn't put it past her."

this one goes out to you chuggy
peace

KFC

This is in response to the unfortunate incident where a lady has framed KFC with serving cockroach sandwiches. I for one, do not believe this hogwash.
It is sad when you go to eat a nice chicken snacker and there are bugs in them. Where did they come from? How did the person putting the sandwich together not see it?
the biggest problem: you don't go to KFC to eat a sandwich. Maybe Arby's, or Subway, or Subfast. But not KFC. Here is a hint for everyone out there. When you go to KFC, always order Extra Crispy Fried Chicken. And the Potato Wedges. And the mac and cheese. and finish it off with an order of popcorn chicken or just get another sweet piece of Karl's Fried Chicken.
Don't worry about cholesterol. Hebrews 9:27 says we will all die.

Just the Three of Us

Because this blog is about 2 people and a dog...I thought I would talk about the three of us.
First of all, I do not believe I am the Greatest Record of all Time. Nor was this meant to be some deep spiritual metaphor. I was just trying to be a little funny.
2nd of all, we are excited about the upcoming baby in our life. Jenn is 15 weeks pregnant. She is still beautiful. It is truly amazing that God develops the baby's life while in the mother's womb. Of course, we already knew that from Psalm 139, when David said he was formed in his mother's womb. God is indeed sovereign and amazing. We are going old school by not finding out the sex of the baby. The first picture of the baby was amazing, seeing hands, legs, head, and the heart beating at 13 weeks. We are very excited about this upcoming baby.
Now about our dog: Sadie right now is the joy and love of the household. I know she is going to be replaced in a few months, and I am not sure how she will handle it. I have a feeling she will be jumping on our furniture again to get some attention.
Ok a few sports thoughts. Because once in my life I desired to be a coach, and sometimes I still think about it in the future, I have a few things to share.
1st: note to all NFL coaches. When you are down by more than 2 scores in the 4th quarter, do not run play action passes. (For those of you who don't know sports, play action passes are great when the defense thinks you might run the ball, it can be deceptive and result in a big play. However, if you are down by a lot of points, you are not fooling anyone because everyone knows you are going to pass the ball. All it does is gives the defense an extra second to get to the quarterback)
so what do I see in the AFC championship game? Denver, down by at least 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter, run at least 2, maybe 3 play action passes in a row. At this point, I knew they would lose. Now, I do not like Denver at all. I could care less. But I felt bad for the fans of Denver. Hey Mike Shanahan, noone thinks you are going to run the ball, and all this does is gives Pittsburgh's defense an extra second to get to your quarterback. This is not the first time I have seen this kind of terrible play calling in 4th quarter of comeback attempts (i.e. Cleveland Browns of 2005). So what makes them do it? I don't know.
p.s. i don't hear any steeler fan's complaining!
2nd and last sport note: Kobe Bryant's 81 points, to me, is just as special or even more special than Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in 1962. First off, Wilt was a physical beast, bigger and stronger than anyone. In the NBA today, we have 7 footers who are small forwards (i.e. Nowitzki and KG). Wilt physically dominated the game for many years. I heard people pointing out that Bill Russell and Wes Unseld were his contemporaries, and that they were soooo good too. Check the stats folks. Wilt Chamberlain 7'1 275 lbs, Russell 6'9 1/2" 220 lbs, Unseld 6'7" 245 lbs. No contest. He was a beast among mere 6'6" men.
Kobe's a great player, and a perimeter player who scores 81 is just as good as Wilt's 100 points back in 1962.

Super Bowl

Steelers vs Seahawks

The big game in less than 2 weeks involves 2 teams noone would have picked back in September. No one except for my friend Pete, who loves the Steelers and is raising his son to be a big Steeler fan, maybe even future quarterback. Look out for the draft in 2021.

Anyway, as a big Packer fan, I am lightly intrigued with the Seahawks. Mike Holmgren was the Packer coach for several years in the 90's, leading them to the championship. Their qb is also a former Packer.

As for the Christian element to the Super Bowl, there are many Christians on both teams. Beware of the person who says God wants ______ to win. Does God want the _______ team to lose? I think the good verse for us is 1 Cor 10:31. That whatever we do, we do all for the glory of God. God desires that the athletes (and us) do the best that we can, for the glory of God.
